What is a Lead Funnel?

You’ve probably heard about lead funnels or marketing funnels.  But what exactly is a lead funnel? In a nutshell, it’s a pathway you design to move people from being leads to becoming raving fans — and repeat customers!  You move them through the funnel by following the online marketing formula.

So how exactly do you do that?  You need to understand a little about attraction marketing.   Basically, attraction marketing is providing valuable information that attracts people to you.  You want to provide information that will help people solve a problem.

The first step is to select a group of people that you want to help (P.S.  you can not help everyone!)  Make your selection very targeted.  That way you can tailor your content to the needs of that specific group of people.  It makes it a lot easier on you too!

Once you know who you are helping and what they need, you can design your lead funnel.  Think of some very useful content you could give them for free — well, it’s not exactly free.  You want to create something that they will be willing  to exchange their contact information for. It can be anything — an ebook, article, video, email series, podcast, or anything else you think they will want.

When they give you their contact information, they have now moved into your funnel and have become a LEAD.

Your next task is to continue to provide service and useful  information.  You are helping them to know, like, and trust you.  You want to show them you can help them solve the problems they have.

After a while, you tell them about a low-cost product you have developed that will help them even more.  By this point, they have learned that you want to help them and they like what you  provide.  They are willing to pay you for your product.  They have now moved further down in your lead funnel and are now PROSPECTS.

You keep providing valuable service and content and building that relationship.  Then it is time to introduce them to your high ticket product or your business opportunity.  When they purchase, they have made it through your lead funnel and you now have a CUSTOMER!

Keep nurturing the relationship and keep them happy, and you will have a repeat customer.  They know you provide real value and are willing to pay you for what you have to offer.

  1. Fascinating, Carol, thank you. I am going to have to work at developing this as a strategy for my business. It’s a great way to examine the purpose and better facilitate personal and business connections. Much appreciation.

  2. A great reminder for me to keep a low cost product in my portfolio. Was just about to strike them all out, so I’ll choose one or two and keep them. Thanks!

  3. I like to think of a funnel like a journey where your followers and subscribers are getting to know, like and trust you.

It is really interesting when you offer content all the time, that people start to warm to you and take the bait when you have something for sale.

Works like a charm so long as you have good intentions at heart.
