Backing up your website is critical to protecting all your hard work! I’ve noticed that some people over-look this important task. There are several reasons why you want to make sure this is done — the right way!
First, heaven forbid, if your website ever gets hacked, you want to get back up and running as quickly as possible. Especially if your website is the main way you find new customers & clients. Having frequent back-ups helps you restore your site quickly — AND you don’t lose all the hard work you’ve put in either!
Second, say you are trying something new on your website like adding new plugins or playing with a new theme and something goes terribly wrong. You try to reverse what you did, but that doesn’t seem to work. If you have a recent backup, it’s simple to get your site back to a working state.
Those are just two examples of why you want to backup your website frequently. My favorite way is to use a plugin called BackupBuddy. This plugin is easy to use and set up and then performs the backups all on it’s own on the schedule you define. No worries! If it does encounter some sort of issue, it will email you so you can take care of it quickly.
The really nice thing about BackupBuddy is you can send your backups “off-site” for safety. Let’s say something does happen to your site. Storing your backups on your hosting is risky because they can be compromised or even deleted. Then what? BackupBuddy offers a Stash, which is a place to store your backups safely OFF your hosting. Or, if you prefer, you can send them to places like DropBox, Amazon AWS, email them, just to name a few.
Another powerful feature of BackupBuddy, is something called ImportBuddy. If you have to restore or even move your website, ImportBuddy makes it simple to get your website up and running again.
Bottom line — you need to backup your website regularly to protect yourself from problems and have a way to get back up and running as quickly as possible if something does happen! After all, we want to keep your website available to all your customers so your business can keep growing! So check out BackupBuddy now!
